Want to try authentic Chinese Sichuan food in Long Island New York? Let me recommend Imperial Wok – a well known restaurant at Hicksville New York since 1980s. This place has no fancy décor, but the food is simply delicious, in my opinion, better than many restaurants at Chinatown. Imperial Wok offers two menus, English menu with Chinese American food e.g. sweet & sour chicken and beef with red pepper and onion etc, and an authentic Chinese menu, which offers spicy Sichuan dishes that you can’t resist. Can’t read Chinese? Just ask one of the friendly staffs to recommend their well known spicy dishes. I ordered a tofu fish, spicy beef in red hot sauce and the beef stew noodles. Food is extremely spicy, but they are great if you like hot and spicy favor. Tofu fish is fish filet is cover by white and soft tofu; the tofu balance the spicy favor added to the fish filet, it was spicy doesn’t burn your tongue. I also recommend the beef noodle soup – rice flat noodles with tender beef stew, serve with marinated sour vegetable.

Kotoburki is known as Nobu in Long Island, I recently visited the Roslyn location and you will be amaze how popular this restaurant is in the Island. I wait for almost 30 minutes for a table. The decoration is simple and nice, my waiter was friendly and he recommends dishes that are popular. I ordered the yellow tail jalapenos sashimi, which is a similar dish from the “real” Nobu, But the price is much more reasonable. The marinated sashimi is very good, it has a little lemon and spicy taste. I also ordered a Shrimp GoGo, which is a deep fried roll with Shrimp meat inside, that was ok, a little too oily. I also had the grill sea bass, and that was great, it was perfect, the fish was so tasty and well cook, that I almost order another one. Kotoburki offers large portion which is great for customer, the price is reasonable and I will definitely go back and try other items on the menu. I saw people in the next table have the sushi for two and the portion was so much that it can feed four people! Definitely worth the money,

Landmarc is a beautiful restaurant locates at the top floor in the time Warner building. It is centrally located Columbus circle and overlooks the city’s central park. Landmarc has beautiful décor and the definitely gives you a sense of new York city elegant. It is a good place for Sunday brunch, dinner or just a drink. I especially enjoy the Sunday brunch. Go there around 11am, the place is not too busy yet, and you will find yourself in a nice and relaxing environment, I suggest your morning coffee with the famous Landmarc’s pancake. The pancake is thick and fluffy, and it tastes SO good. Also try their omelet, you can even add oyster. Service is nice and the price is reasonable. If you want to enjoy a new York city brunch, I highly recommend Landmarc.

Both stores were originally from Korea, (I was told they are so popular in Korea, Red Mango has over 140 locations in Korea since it opened in 2002.) Both places offer delicious yogurt in either original or green tea favor. And you can add many toppings such as berries/mochi/chocolate etc. My favorite is original yogurt with Blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and mochi. The yogurt is smooth and rich, and taste like ice cream but its a sweet and sour. I also had their yogurt drink blueberry and chocolate yogurt drink. it is also very good.

Although the place is small and seating area is very limited, this is a great hangout place. You can ask for a little spoon and try different interesting favors before you decide which favor you want. , I personally love the hazelnut chocolate rice pudding and the pecan pie pudding. They are so delicious. You can also try their fruity favor such as raspberry and banana etc. This is a great rice pudding cafe, don’t miss it when you visit New York City.

How good a slice of pizza can be? I was told Lombardi offers the city’s best Pizzas, so I went to try a pie this past weekend. I arrived around 8pm, and there was still 30+ people waiting outside the restaurant. I waited in the cold weather for a almost 2 hours and finally was offer a seat in a smaller room next to the main dining area (which was great, it was a quiet room and you don’t eat next to the big crowd). To be honest, when I finally reached the dining table, I was so tired and wasn’t hungry anymore. The menu was very simple; Lombardi basically only offers pizza, breadstick and toast salad. I decided to order a large pie with 5 toppings - My pie was filled with red onion, sweet pepper, mushroom, sausage and spinach. The pie was good, but not super. The vegetables were too watery, which made my pie very wet. In my opinion, this is a good place for tourist, but as a New Yorker, I would probably skip the long wait and just enjoy a regular slice of pizza from pizzeria next door.

I’ve been there for both lunch and dinner. Food was excellent in both occasions, but I personally prefer my dinner experiences. It was slower pace and a more romantic atmosphere. In term of their menu, I particularly love their mussels cook in wine and the tuna tartar appetizer. Their filet mignon was also great and tender. I also very much enjoy the chocolate fondue. It came with fresh strawberries, and sweet marshmallow. I know this restaurant also offer cooking class; students can learn to cook some of the restaurant’s well known dishes, tour the beautiful chief kitchen, and finish the tour with a three course meals.

This is a small cozy restaurant locate at Brooklyn NY; surround by beautiful Carrol Gaden’s brownstones houses. Crave is nicely decorated with dark wood and simple design. There are probably less than 12 tables inside the restaurant and the dining area is separate by a large grass wall to the chief kitchen area. Food is amazing; I had a fruity salad with blue cheese, roast duck and a warm chocolate cake and coffee. I highly recommend this restaurant, this is not far from NYC - just across the bridge and you will be there in minutes. I also found out that Crave now offers nightly tasting menus. These tasing menus are available in four or seven courses and can be optionally paired with wine, can’t wait to go back and try the seven courses dinner soon.

I had fresh fruit and homemade toasts, egg and ham, and well baked biscuit (they were so warm and buttery). I had my big meal for just little over 20 bucks. If you are a dog lover, you will especially enjoy the charm in this restaurant. I heard dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating so bring your pets to barking dog luncheotte next time.

I had cocktail shrimp and sea scallop as appetizer, Sea bass as Entree, and finish my wonderful dinner with Sorbet and dessert. Food at L’Ecole is as good as some of the much more expensive restaurants in the city, the service is also excellent! My waitress even offers us chocolate to bring home when we left. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic gathering; the nice and relaxing atmosphere is especially great for couples.
