Lombardi pizza
May 26, 2008
How good a slice of pizza can be? I was told Lombardi offers the city’s best Pizzas, so I went to try a pie this past weekend. I arrived around 8pm, and there was still 30+ people waiting outside the restaurant. I waited in the cold weather for a almost 2 hours and finally was offer a seat in a smaller room next to the main dining area (which was great, it was a quiet room and you don’t eat next to the big crowd). To be honest, when I finally reached the dining table, I was so tired and wasn’t hungry anymore. The menu was very simple; Lombardi basically only offers pizza, breadstick and toast salad. I decided to order a large pie with 5 toppings - My pie was filled with red onion, sweet pepper, mushroom, sausage and spinach. The pie was good, but not super. The vegetables were too watery, which made my pie very wet. In my opinion, this is a good place for tourist, but as a New Yorker, I would probably skip the long wait and just enjoy a regular slice of pizza from pizzeria next door.
